For example, an older petmom's much-loved and spunky feline companion,Sapphire, was being admitted for a proactive dental prophylaxis when it was mentioned that there had been a little bit of blood in her litter box recently.

A prompt urinalysis did confirm hematuria, or blood in this kitty's urine. Next an ultrasound scan of her bladder showed a hyperechoic image, in other words, a STONE (urolith)!
